This book, which contains excellent illustrations, presents the earliest preserved map of the kingdom of Valencia (dating back to the mid-sixteenth century). It also includes the manuscript written by the cartographer, Jerónimo Muñoz, the interpretation of the map by Abraham Ortelius, and the various maps derived from it published in Holland during the seventeenth century. By publishing this work, the authors have aimed to clarify some of the more obscure factors in the preparation of this first map, which is part of the origins of Spanish scientific cartography. | Il·lustracions en color |
