The way heritage is seen and experienced by local people and visitors plays a central role in its conservation. The exhaustive efforts made to produce this book analyse a cultural space in which a set of values and attributes come together, requiring joint management. This approach is focused on an understanding of the protection, preservation, and recreation of the tangible and intangible heritage of the municipalities of the Penyagolosa area: Atzeneta del Maestrat, Castillo de Villamalefa, Culla, Llucena, Ludiente, Puertomingalvo, Les Useres, Villahermosa del Río, Vistabella del Maestrat and Xodos. The places analysed in this work are defined as a geographical area associated with a historical event, activity or town showing cultural and aesthetic values. Following this definition, these municipalities are experiential and cultural spaces offering a complex combination of fixed, semi-fixed, and unfixed elements.
