Health conflicts in migratory contexts confront ideas, people, interests and heterogeneous practices, yet they also give rise to numerous spaces for negotiation and the coexistence of beliefs, representations and multiple ways of understanding and managing the health–disease–care process.
Based on an intuition, this work sets out to obtain a deeper and better knowledge and understanding of the conceptions and rationalities that guide and condition the health–disease–care processes of the Moroccan immigrant population in Castelló. It can help to ensure that the intercultural contact with the host society is not based so much on confrontation but on mutual knowledge and recognition and on trust, all of which are essential ingredients for intercultural coexistence. Through the experiences and tales of Moroccan women and men, the aim is also to identify and increase the visibility of their cultural contributions to healthcare and intercultural coexistence, thus contributing to the recognition of this immigrant population.
