Nowadays, the Generalitat (Valencian regional government) is a set of four institutions: the Valencian Parliament, the Executive Council, the Court of Auditors and the Valencian Cultural Council. But this has not always been the case, as the Generalitat “was not born dressed and armed like Minerva, but it is a political creation of the Valencian people made over centuries”. In this lesson, the well-known expert Arcadi Garcia i Sanz briefly analyses the beginning of the juridical institutionalisation of the Valencian Parliament, the origin of the Generalitat and the institution in medieval, modern and contemporary times.
