Álvaro Castell was born in Canet lo Roig in 1920. From a very young age, he had a strong social and political conscience, and in 1938 he was drafted into the so-called "baby bottle brigade." After enduring the war and its aftermath, he was released in June 1945. In the last years of his life, he wanted to share what he and his comrades, the defeated, had suffered during the dictatorship, and so he wrote these memoirs.
