The aim of this work is to have a publication, in different parts or volumes, on the scientific bases on which the current manufacture of white ceramic products is based, trying to offer a scientific interpretation of the phenomena that develop there.

The first chapter analyzes and describes in a rational way the study of ceramic processing. This is based, on the one hand, on the knowledge of the relationships that exist between the properties of the materials and their microstructural characteristics. And, on the other hand, on the response of the material in each individual stage of the process, that is, how its microstructural characteristics vary when modifying the operating variables.

In subsequent chapters, the laws and principles that govern the physical processes and/or chemical reactions that, to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the stage of the process considered, influence the microstructural changes that the material undergoes are studied. Thus, colloidal phenomena, surface or interparticle forces and suspension stabilization mechanisms, which are the basis for achieving stable suspensions, will be discussed in this volume.
